Mr Francis M. Munywoki – Chairman
Mr. Francis Munywoki was appointed Chairman of the KLDC Board on the 6th October 2021. He is a professional with extensive experience leading operations, strategy and business programmes that leveraged revenue growth, influenced society and improved lives. His experience spans across Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), Banking, Information Technology (IT), and Media industries
Culturally sensitive, commercially astute and results driven, Francis has spearheaded global business initiatives in Africa, Europe and Asia. His Strength in Operations, Strategy, Technology and business development act as enablers to his entrepreneurship and enhances his mentorship capabilities to business start-ups in Africa.
He recently served as the Managing Director Nation Newspapers at Nation Media Group, the leading media house in East and Central Africa. Previously, Francis served as the Managing Director & Director of Innovation at The Standard Group in Kenya, where he was also an executive member of the Board.
Francis has had a remarkable career in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods Industry. He worked for PepsiCo International as the Business Intelligence Director in charge of 22 countries in Europe. Prior to that, he served at The Coca-Cola Company for over 10 years, holding various operations & Information Technology management, strategy and business leadership roles in Africa, Europe and Asia. He started his career as an IT engineer at Elite Computers after which he joined Barclays Bank Information technology division in Kenya.
He is a Board member at Madison General Insurance. Previously he served in the Boards of Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) and East African Business Council (EABC).
Francis holds an MBA from London Business School in the United Kingdom and The Wharton School in the United States. He holds a degree in Electrical & Communications Engineering from Moi University in Kenya.A true believer of Africa Integration and prosperity, Francis is the Chairman of the Great African Cycling Safari (GACS) an annual bicycle tour that covers 6000 kms to promote Peace, Unity and sustainable Development through Environment Conservation.
Mr. Joseph N. Mbogo – Alt Principal Secretary State Department of Livestock
Mr. Mbogo holds a Master’s of Science degree in Leather Technology (University of Northampton-UK, 2005), Bachelors of Science degree (University of Nairobi, 1990). He has served in government in various positions starting as a high school teacher with the TSC, lecturer at both Ahiti-Kabete and University of Nairobi, a researcher at Kenya Industrial Research and Development Institute (KIRDI). He is currently the Director of Leather Development, State Department of Livestock and alternate Director KLDC to the Principal Secretary, State Department of Livestock
Mr Johnson Maina Mwangi – Alt Principal Secretary, National Treasury
Mr. Johnson Maina Mwangi was born on 20th December, 1968. He is currently a Senior Deputy Director, Macro and Fiscal Affairs Department in the National Treasury. He has served as an Economist for 26 years in various Government Ministries including in the Office of the Vice President and Ministry of planning and National Development, Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Ministry of Health and the National Treasury. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Economics and Master of Arts (MA) in Economics degrees from the University of Nairobi.
Ms Elizabeth Kamau – Independent Member
M/s Kamau is an astute business lady. She has also practiced extensively as a fashion and interior designer with vast experience in Kenya and other parts of East Africa. Her expertise and experience has been a valuable contribution to the strategy development for the manufacturing component within the leather sector, particularly with regard to skills development, comprehension of market processes and channels, linkages for producers of leather footwear and other goods.
Dr Issack M. Noor, PhD – CEO/Secretary
Dr. Noor holds a PhD in Live Stock Production Systems, Egerton University, (2013), MSc (Animal Production), University of Nairobi, (2009), BSc (Animal Health) Egerton University (1995) and a Certificate (Animal Health) Ahiti- Nyahururu, (1990). He has over 35 years of public service experience with veterinary department, teaching, research, and administration.
